Our ever popular Tots Take Over classes are an exciting way to introduce your little ones to the delights of the kitchen. Exclusive to Friday mornings, it’s a great way to spend time with your children and ignite a passion for cooking.

Kids in the Kitchen - Summer Special
Perfect for the Summer Holidays, bring your budding chefs along for a fun and interactive cooking session. They will make two items to take home and boost their knowledge and skills in the kitchen. Fun, informative and engaging, this is the ideal session for all children aged 8-11.
This two hour course will focus on sweet treats, featuring baking preparation, kitchen safety, reading, following and creating delicious recipes which can be enjoyed at home.

Teens Take Over
Perfect for the Summer Holidays, bring your budding chefs along for a fun and interactive cooking session. Everyone will make two items to take home, one sweet and one savoury and boost their knowledge and skills in the kitchen, encouraging young people to gain independence and confidence, essential life skills.
Fun, informative and engaging, this is the ideal session for young people aged 12+.

Course Overview
The Masterclass with Florian Poirot, UK Pastry Champion takes place at our kitchen in Malton Enterprise Park.
This is a Hands on / Demo Class where we will all together bake a large and small macaron cakes.
You will learn how to make the macaron dough & our delicious Passion Fruit cream, but also how to pipe, build and decorate your celebration cake.
At the end of the class, you will go home with recipes and 2 individual cakes.
The maximum number of participants is 12.
Perfect gift for any of your loved one from 14 years old.

Malton Museum Walking Tour: Malton’s Medieval Story
Date: Saturday 2nd August 2025

Meet 11.30 am at St Mary’s Priory Church, 18 Town St, Old Malton, Malton YO17 7HB.
Malton Museum offers an interesting variety of public guided walking tours around the town’s historic centre.
The layout of Malton town centre has changed very little since medieval times, but its early origins are now well concealed behind later Georgian and Victorian buildings. St Mary’s Priory Church in Old Malton is the largest remaining visible evidence of the area’s flourishing medieval past. Join us there for an illustrated talk in which we reveal the hidden history of the origins of both Old and New Malton. This will be followed by a guided look at key features inside the church and in the former priory grounds by the river.
Tour length – 1.5 hours approx. We recommend wearing sensible footwear and bringing a raincoat). We use audio headsets to ensure everyone can hear the guides when the town is busy. The maximum size of a group is 20.
Cost £10.00 per person, includes an information pack.

Choral Workshop: Folk Songs from Around the World

Event Overview
Come along and enjoy a four hour workshop learning folk songs from different countries, including England, South Africa, Ireland and Wales.
Arrangements will be scored for SATB and all parts will be taught on the day. So no experience or an ability to sight read is necessary.
The workshop will be led by Alison Davis, Musical Director for Harmonia, Ryedale Voices, The Ryelarks and The Notables.

Every second Saturday of the Month (March to November), Malton Monthly Food Market returns with specialist food stalls & street food.
Popular with all those who care about where their food is sourced, the market is loved by foodies, chefs & keen amateur cooks alike
Set against the magnificent backdrop of St Michael's Church in Malton's central Market Place, the market trades from 9am to 3pm.

The Cook’s Place have teamed up with local Malton bookshop Kemps Bookstore to bring you a monthly book club with a difference.
Each month Jo Hardy from Kemps Bookstore suggests a book that has a foodie theme, you review it and Gilly Robinson, owner and head tutor here at The Cook’s Place will then create a two-course meal. Gilly will demonstrate how to make the dishes which you get to eat during the evening with a glass of something. Cooking the Books is a great way to bring your love of books and cooking together. A wonderful night out for a group of book lovers or even on your own. A friendly, welcoming atmosphere awaits.

All the lectures are in Malton Assembly Rooms and entrance is though the Museum on Yorkersgate. They all start at 7 p.m. and they cost £10 per head. Booking online is through the events section of the Malton Museum website or you can pay at the door.
