Malton’s Story

“A decade ago this Yorkshire town was in a slump. But after fostering its can-do, independent spirit - it has emerged as a flagship for rural England”

“I think what I love about Malton, is that as well as being a proper working town, it’s proud to be a little different.

Here on the edge of the moors we truly celebrate our independent shops, artisan producers and that we’re a town of makers.

When we started our food town project, built on the remarkable local produce, I couldn’t have imagined we’d end up making so many delicious products right in the centre of town.

Bread, beer, coffee, gin, gelato, macarons and much more besides.

And it’s that community, present before but strengthened through food, which has been, I feel, the greatest part of Malton’s story.”

“It was the late, great Antonio Carluccio who first called Malton, ‘Yorkshire’s Food Capital’ encouraging us to

innovate and

celebrate all things local.

With new plans and exciting openings coming soon we’ll try and stay true to that.

I hope to meet you in Malton soon!
