Hilarity Bites Comedy Club Evening

Date: Friday 27th February 2026

Time: 8pm

Location: The Milton Rooms, Market Place, Malton, YO17 7LX

Tickets: £10pp

Event Overview

The first Hilarity Bites of 2026!

Nick Doody has been performing comedy since the 1990s when, as a student, he got off to a pretty good start by supporting the legendary Bill Hicks, at Bill’s request. A little later, Nick was a finalist in Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny? competition. Since then he has performed all over the world:

Nick has appeared on various radio and TV shows and is also much in demand as a writer. He has penned jokes for Joan Rivers, Lenny Henry, Dame Edna Everage and an uncomfortable number of Mock the Week regulars. He was also the creator and head writer of Bigipedia, a critically acclaimed Radio 4 show that broadcast in 2009 and 2011.

El Purnell is a unique whirlwind of a crowd-pleasing comedy act. His energy and gags per minute are off the scale, delivering many belly laughs and so much fun for the audience. He has a unique and clever spin delivering his set in Spanish with a sprinkle of English. Audiences love the interaction, jokes and actual realisation they can understand him without speaking his mother tongue.

Highlights for Ecuador’s No 1 comedian include several runs at the Edinburgh festival, TV shows for both BBC and Sky TV and international gigs in Ecuador, Ireland, Germany and Thailand.

Will Duggan started performing comedy in 2009. Since then he has established himself as a dynamic and exciting new act and a quick and witty MC. In the short time he has been performing comedy Will has been in the final of many prestigious competitions including Beat the Frog World Series 2011. He was nominated for Best MC at the 2022 Nottingham Comedy Festival Awards.

A natural either performing a set or hosting an evening. Will puts the audience at ease with his charming, friendly style.

Doors and bar open 7pm.

The show may contain strong language and adult themes and is not suitable for under-16s.

An Evening Under The Stars at Birdsall House

Date: Tuesday 17th February 2026

Time: 5pm

Tickets: £35pp

Join us for an intimate evening of stargazing as we celebrate the extraordinary dark skies above Birdsall House. Nestled in the Yorkshire Wolds, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, Birdsall enjoys an exceptional setting beside one of just 25 places in the world recognised for its pristine, dark skies — allowing us to share in this rare and remarkable celestial landscape. The evening will begin at dusk with a leisurely walk led by Lady Cara, offering the chance to spot some of Birdsall’s much-loved wildlife — from our resident peacocks going to bed to the variety of nocturnal birds that call the Birdsall Estate home. As daylight fades, the stars will slowly reveal themselves overhead.

We will then return to The Old Kitchens for a captivating talk by astronomer Neill Sanders, founder of Go Stargazing. As we warm ourselves with a hot drink and snacks, Neill will guide us through the wonders of recent space exploration, touching on extraordinary new discoveries, the enigma of dark matter, and worlds far beyond our own.

The evening will draw to a close with guided telescope viewing led by Neill, giving guests the chance to observe Jupiter in remarkable detail, as we gather around the fire pits and marvel at the night sky above. Age 12 & over.

Event Overview

A gypsy jazz supergroup with musicians from all around Yorkshire playing music inspired from legendary musicians Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli of the ‘Quintette du Hot Club de France’. The group consists of the traditional guitar (Lewis Kilvington and Martin Chung), double bass (James Munroe) and violin (Derek Magee) with additional clarinet (Christine Pinkard) and were recently featured in Guitarist magazine about Django Reinhardt legacy. Expect some fast licks, burning ballads and even some Latin-inspired pieces.
