As the High Street of Malton, Wheelgate is one of the busiest spots in town, but like the rest of Malton, it is proud to celebrate its independent shops. Ashley Cooke’s Interiors shops seems to get bigger and better ever year and is one such place that’s a real treat for all things homewares. Wood fired Pizza is also the name of the game at the excellent authentic La Trattoria. Their impressive wood fired oven can be seen in the window and they serve some great Italian beer and wines too.
Dales Green grocer is an institution in itself and offer genuinely some of the best and freshest produce you can find anywhere. Richard Dale is so prized for his produce that he supplies a multitude of restaurants across Yorkshire under the name “The Chef’s Choice”. As well as flowers Dales Florist does beautiful floral arrangements for any occasion and their shop smells amazing. For quirky gift and homeware inspiration, why not pop by to the newly opened Birdie Black.
Parnaby’s is a legend of Malton offering high quality country clothing, fashion and equestrian supplies. They have been in town for 300 years and their newly decorated shop is very smart indeed. When it comes to bakeries there are the staples Thomas the Baker & Cooplands which are popular and of course, there’s Leoni’s coffee shop which is a firm favourite with coffee lovers. They serve excellent light lunches and snacks too.
