Meet at Malton Museum

Malton Museum offers an interesting variety of public guided walking tours around the town’s historic centre.

This tour around the centre of Malton explores the relationship of both Malton and Norton with the horse, from having the largest horse markets in the country from medieval times onwards to the many 18th century coaching inns and its fame as one of the most successful horse racing towns in the land in the mid-19th century when the description ‘more stables than beds’ was not far wrong. The tour covers key buildings and spaces in the town which are part of the story.

The tour takes about 90 minutes.  The maximum size of a group is 20.

Cost £10.00 per person, includes an information pack.

The Cook's Walk – Malton’s Ultimate Food & Culture Tour (September)

The Cook’s Walk – Malton’s Ultimate Food & Culture Tour

Discover Malton like never before. Join Gilly, founder of The Cook’s Place, for a behind-the-scenes walking tour packed with incredible food, local stories, and hidden gems.

This isn’t your typical walking tour. The Cook’s Walk is led by Gilly Robinson, founder and head chef of The Cook’s Place in Malton, offering an insider’s view of the town’s independent food scene and history. Think of it as exploring with a friend who knows everyone and everything about the local food scene - guiding you to the very best spots. It’s a hands-on way to discover the town’s rich heritage, meet its passionate producers, and experience Yorkshire food culture at its heart. ‍

During the four hours with Gilly you will sip artisan coffee, taste award-winning treats, and explore Malton’s best - from independent breweries and cheesemongers to bakeries, delis, and more. Along the way, uncover the town’s rich history, vibrant food scene, and unique character.

The tour will finish with a chance to sit down, enjoy a delicious light lunch made with ingredients from regional producers, and an exclusive chat with a special guest - a local ‘Food Hero’. Each monthly tour features a different local food hero, giving a brilliant reason to come back again!

Each four-hour tour concludes around 2.30pm, leaving visitors free to continue exploring Malton’s shops, markets, cafes and other attractions.

Cosy Cottage: Soothing Sound Bath: Cleanse, Calm & Realign

Soothing Sound Bath: Cleanse, Calm & Realign

Dates: 13th September 2026 (other dates include 3rd May and 5th July)

Location: 17 Market Place, Malton, YO17 7LX

Tickets: £30.00

Step into stillness, in the late spring early evening, and surrender to the deeply calming experience of this Soothing Sound Bath, lovingly held by experienced sound practitioner Julia Thompson.

Designed to gently quiet the mind and nourish the spirit, this 90-minute session offers a rare opportunity to fully switch off from the outside world and connect with the healing power of sound.

Julia will guide you through a meditative sound journey using a combination of crystal singing bowls, chimes, and grounding instruments, all chosen to support the body’s natural ability to restore and rebalance. These vibrations work at a cellular level, helping to release stored tension, regulate the nervous system, and promote emotional clarity.

Throughout the session, you’ll be invited to simply lie back and relax — letting the sounds wash over you in waves of calm. There will be gentle guidance to settle you into the space, followed by a period of quiet integration at the end, allowing you to return to the present moment feeling lighter, clearer, and more deeply connected to yourself. Whether you’re new to sound healing or returning to deepen your practice, this immersive session offers a nurturing pause for body, mind and soul.

You may wish to bring a yoga mat, blanket, and any cushions or eye masks that will help you feel comfortable and supported, however a mat, pillow and blanket will be provided. We encourage you to bring cosy layers as some may feel cooler lying in stillness for this length of time. You may also wish to bring a journal for any reflections that arise after the session, however this is optional.

Enjoy a welcome beverage and 15% off all Cosy Cottage products on the day.
