Chef Demos, Street Food, Entertainment and the Chance to Win: Everything to Look Out for at Malton Food Lovers Festival

The 2021 Malton Food Lovers Festival is just around the corner, taking place across the three-day Bank Holiday weekend on 28th, 29th and 30th August, bringing a delicious schedule of cookery demonstrations, talks, street food and stalls, entertainment and more to guarantee a fun-filled foodie weekend for festivalgoers.

The Malton Food Lovers Festival will kick off at 9am on Saturday/Sunday and 10am on Bank Holiday Monday.

For the first time, the main stage will be hosted by bespoke kitchen manufacturer Kutchenhaus, in partnership with home appliances brand AEG. The live cooking demonstration space has been purpose built for the event and will serve as the main focal point of the much-loved Food Lovers Festival.

MasterChef Champion 2021 Tom Rhodes and Master Pâtissier Benoit Blin – most well-known for his judging role on Bake Off: The Professionals – will be headlining at the main stage, cooking up a storm for eager audiences and speaking with compere and AEG Product Expert, Andrew Dickens.

James Mackenzie, owner and chef at the Michelin-starred Pipe and Glass in South Dalton is also demonstrating on Saturday and Malton’s very own Florian Poirot will also be part of the line-up on Sunday to show off his patisserie skills.

There will also be talks hosted by AEG Product Expert and festival compere Andrew Dickens across the event, with guests including the likes of Kathryn Brumby from the Yorkshire Pasta Co, Joe Redfearn from The Whitby Lobster Hatchery, Phil Saltonstall from Brass Castle Brewery and many more.

Kutchenhaus will also be hosting a competition across the weekend during which festivalgoers can be in with a chance of winning a range of prizes from Malton’s businesses and AEG cookware accessories, valued at £1,000.

As well as a full schedule of demos for the main stage, Malton’s cookery school The Cook’s Place will also be hosting a range of workshops and courses throughout the weekend. From knife skills, making your own takeaway at home, to the Yorkshire Pudding Bake Off, there will be plenty to get your teeth into – quite literally. All the demos on the main stage and at The Cook’s Place are free of charge.

Live music will continue to be a mainstay of the Food Lovers Festival with musicians playing on every street corner to add ambiance and entertainment to the festival atmosphere. Lined up to perform are The White Star Band, Festival Brass, Simon Snaize and a host of talent who will return to Malton after the success of July’s Meadowfest: Penny Whispers, Ross McWhirter and Gary Stewart.

There will also be plenty on offer for younger family members too, with Be Amazing Arts hosting storytelling sessions, a sensory disco and snippets from their performance ‘Letters from Betty’. The fun doesn’t stop there, as Magical Quests North will be providing an Alice In Wonderland photo opportunity in the Pop-Up Picnic Area.

The Malton Food Lovers Festival is free to enter and will be open from 9am on Saturday 28th August.
