The Cook's Walk - November

‍NEW for 2026! Yorkshire cookery school launches new ‘Cook’s Walk’ tour offering exclusive behind-the-scenes taste of Malton’s food scene

‍ ‍

Food lovers and curious explorers are invited to experience Malton like never before with The Cook’s Walk, a new behind-the-scenes guided walking tour celebrating the people, passion, and produce that make the town famous.

‍ ‍

Hosted by Gilly Robinson, founder and head chef of The Cook’s Place, the guided experience offers visitors an insider’s look at Malton’s thriving independent food scene, rich history, and vibrant community of makers and creators — all accompanied by delicious tastings along the way.

‍ ‍

Mrs Robinson is looking forward to hosting the tours and welcoming new people to the town : “Malton is full of extraordinary food producers and passionate makers, and The Cook’s Walk is about introducing guests to the people behind the produce.

‍ ‍

“This has been a long time in the planning, and thanks to the generosity of the Malton community, visitors won’t just taste the food — they’ll hear the stories, meet the makers and experience the creativity that makes Malton such a special town.

‍ ‍

“Tickets for the first event in April have already sold out! For this event we’re delighted to have teamed up with Heck in their community initiative to combat rural isolation; they will transport people from villages near their factory to join us on The Cook’s Walk in order to connect and make new memories in Malton.”

‍ ‍

Highlights include stops at Talbot Yard, FortySix restaurant, and Kemps General Store & Bookshop, finishing with a relaxed ‘Meet the Food Hero’ light lunch at The Cook’s Place showcasing ingredients from regional producers.

‍ ‍

The next available tour in May will welcome Sarah Puckett-Lane of Puckett’s Pickles, who will join the guests for lunch. As a local producer of British pickles, chutneys, condiments and jams, Mrs Puckett-Lane said: “I can’t wait to return to The Cook’s Place after my time spent there last year as a guest producer for a charity supper club. Supporting Gilly and sharing my food stories to the visitors of this town deep rooted in the love of food is something I am really looking forward to.”

‍ ‍

Each four-hour tour concludes at around 2.30pm, leaving visitors free to continue exploring Malton’s shops, markets, cafes and other attractions.‍ The monthly tours will run May to November (excluding August). Spaces are limited to 12 guests and advance booking is required.

Tickets cost £55 per person and are available to book online. https://thecooksplacemalton.co.uk/
