Malton Museum Walking Tour: Horses in Malton
Date: Saturday 21st November 2026
Time: 11am - 12.30pm
Join our experienced guides on a walk through Malton’s rich history of brewing, and discover small unlicensed brewers, local breweries such as Russell’s, big names like Cameron’s and Tetley’s, and more modern microbreweries like Brass Castle. In the 19th century there were seven commercial breweries in Malton and before that almost every pub had had its own brewhouse. We will talk about the process of brewing, visit the sites of some of the breweries and then look at a number of the numerous pubs that ‘lubricated’ our town.
What made Malton such a centre of brewing, and how has that past contributed to its present success? See the places where beer was brewed, learn about the industries connected to brewing and hear the stories of Malton’s brewers in this celebration of Malton’s proud brewing history.
The tour will end at Brass Castle Taphouse, where you’re welcome to linger and taste Malton’s brewing heritage!
Cost £10.00 per person, includes an information pack.
