Malton’s much-loved Food Lovers Festival returns this June (3rd – 5th), with a packed schedule of chef demonstrations and talks, delicious food and drink stalls, family-friendly entertainment and more over the course of the Jubilee weekend. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to the town for a three-day foodie extravaganza, which is in its thirteenth year.

Sponsoring the Main Stage is Malton-based business Yorkshire Baker. The award-winning bakery is best known for its lovingly crafted pies and pastries, creating a wide range of delicacies from sausage rolls to deep-filled pies and seasonal showstoppers.

As well as sponsoring the Main Stage, Yorkshire Baker is working in partnership with Malton gem, The Cook’s Place, to run pop-ups across the festival weekend. The bakery’s innovation team will run hourly demonstrations from Malton’s stylish cookery school on Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th June from 11:30am – 2:30pm, allowing festivalgoers to get some tips for creating delectable miniature pies at home.

In its role as headline sponsor, Yorkshire Baker will also join forces with Driffield business Colemans Cider, creators of Craft Yorkshire Cider, made with locally grown apples. Colemans Cider will unite with Yorkshire Baker at the Festival, selling and sampling a range of cider products from the Yorkshire Baker stall and providing product for the pop-ups.

Colemans Cider Company were the worthy winners of Yorkshire Baker’s Christmas competition to pitch a new ‘pie-dea’ to the innovation team at the bakery. Head of Innovation Paul Robinson who selected their recipe pitch as the winner, has since turned the idea into a bite-sized treat which will be sampled free of charge at Yorkshire Baker’s festival stall: a Slow Roasted, Pulled Shoulder of Outdoor Bred Pork, made with Colemans Yorkshire Cider and topped with a Black Pudding Crumble.

Leah Mackereth, HR Manager at Yorkshire Baker, says: “Malton Food Lovers Festival is a much-loved event in the foodie calendar and we’re so lucky to have the Festival on our doorstep. “We’re looking forward to sampling our delicious mini pies, created in partnership with Colemans Cider, both on our stand and during our pop-ups at the iconic The Cook’s Place. There will also be some fantastic opportunities for other businesses and visitors to submit a new pie recipe to our competition – the winning business will have the chance to collaborate with us at a future event!”

Yorkshire Baker is also partnering with Circular Malton and Norton for the Festival weekend.

Also sponsoring the Food Lovers Festival this June is Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, the new spirit created by Ellers Farm Distillery, located in Stamford Bridge. Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka will be the Official Spirit of the Festival, and festivalgoers will be able to sample the drink at the brand’s dedicated Festival location in the centre of Malton.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, Director of Visit Malton, says: “We are delighted to have two fantastic Yorkshire brands join us for the June instalment of the Malton Food Lovers Festival. Their generous support ensures the success of the event, which sees thousands of visitors flock to our wonderful town to sample the delights of our local businesses and stalls, as well as an action-packed Main Stage!”

The Food Lovers Festival is free to attend with designated festival Park & Ride car parks operating (at a small charge). The Park and Ride service will be available at each entrance to Malton from the A64, with a regular shuttle bus service direct to the event entrance.

Malton is also accessible via public transport with train services to the town from York and Scarborough (we advise to check for strike action before travelling) and Malton is also on the award winning Coastliner bus route.
