Malton
The attractive market town of Malton has been the historic centre of Ryedale since Roman times. Situated on the river Derwent, it is an ideal location for discovering the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside. The city of York, the Coast, the Wolds and the North Yorkshire Moors, are all within easy reach of Malton.
All the fun of the fair can be found at Flamingo Land theme park and zoo, with exciting rides to suit everyone, ranging from the 'Terroriser' and the 'Bullet' to the traditional Carousel. There are over one thousand animals to see in the zoo, a real family pleaser.
The museum, located in the Old Town Hall contains an impressive display of Roman artefacts found in and around Malton's Derventio Fort. See displays showing how Roman centurions and civillians lived, or visit the actual site of Derventio in Orchard Fields. Malton has a selection of shops as well as a host of hotels, cafes, restaurants and pubs, all keen to extend the typical Yorkshire welcome.

The spectacular Castle Howard, known world-wide as the location for the popular BBC television series, 'Brideshead Revisited', is very close to Malton - a class act worthy of an encore!
'Eden Camp Theme Museum' transports you back to war-time Britain. Created from a genuine P.O.W camp, it serves as a poignant reminder for many visitors and a valuable learning experience for all.
Further afield,'The Shed' at Brawby provides a musical feast and will satisfy your cultural appetite time and again.
